The Allure of Gold – An Age Old Attraction

Mankind has been drawn to the glorious lustre of gold since time immemorial with the shiny stuff being valued, traded and coveted since, and before records began. Needless to say it’s value (and never more so than now!) means that the unscrupulous are always looking for way to trip up the unwary.

But check out the image above – a supposedly gold chain clinging to the magnet for dear life. Sold to our client as 9ct gold and worth several hundred pounds in scrap value alone if correct, this item turned out to be nothing more than gold plated steel which we ended up giving to a charity shop.
