The Allure of Gold – An Age Old Attraction
But Don’t be Taken For a Fool!

Mankind has been drawn to the glorious lustre of gold since time immemorial with the shiny stuff being valued, traded and coveted since, and before records began. Needless to say it’s value (and never more so than now!) means that the unscrupulous are always looking for way to trip up the unwary.
Every week we are offered gold items and the vast majority of them are genuine and as they should be. But, be warned, all that glistens is not always gold. We conduct a range of tests on everything we are offered and the first and most basic is to offer up the item to our industrial strength magnet. As we all know, gold is not even remotely magnetic and should shrug of the attention of even the strongest of magnets.
But check out the image above – a supposedly gold chain clinging to the magnet for dear life. Sold to our client as 9ct gold and worth several hundred pounds in scrap value alone if correct, this item turned out to be nothing more than gold plated steel which we ended up giving to a charity shop.
Our tests do not stop there of course and happily, most items we see are the real deal. Gold remains at almost it’s highest peak so there is no better time to call us around with our magic magnet to check out your items and see if you would like to turn them into cash in the bank. We are a mobile service and will meet with you at a time and place of your choosing. We appraise your items be they jewellery, bullion or coins and make a fair offer for them. If accepted we pay you right there on the spot before your goods leave your possession.
