A mobile precious-metals buying service
Devon Precious Metals is a mobile precious-metals buying business serving customers across most of South and West Devon and South East Cornwall.
We don't operate from a customer-facing shop. Instead, we arrange appointments and visit customers at their homes, places of business or another mutually convenient location.
The business has been trading as Devon Precious Metals for three years.
How we work
Our approach is straightforward.
When you contact us, we'll ask what you have to sell, where you're located and when you are available. You can send photographs beforehand if useful.
We then arrange a suitable appointment.
During the visit, you can watch the assessment and ask questions. We examine the items, look for identifying features such as hallmarks and use Sigma or XRF testing equipment where appropriate.
Both provide non-destructive methods of testing precious metals.
We weigh items individually and establish their fineness. We can show you the test results and equipment readings and provide a breakdown of what we have identified.
We don't expect you to decide immediately
A valuation doesn't mean you have to sell.
You can see what we have identified and tested, discuss the valuation with us and then decide whether you want to proceed.
There is no obligation to sell, and there is no charge for our service.
If you decide not to sell, your items remain with you.
How we pay
If you agree to sell, we pay by instant bank transfer or cash by prior arrangement.
Bank transfers normally arrive within seconds.
An important part of our process is that you don't hand over your items until you have seen that the payment has arrived in your bank account.
Each transaction is documented with a formal Purchase Order.
We also require appropriate identification, such as a driving licence, passport or other proof of ID.
Looking beyond metal value
The metal content isn't necessarily the only thing that can matter.
When assessing an item, we look for opportunities for additional value. Where appropriate, we work with selected buyers to try to achieve a better price for an individual item and pass this on to our client.
Diamonds and gemstones in jewellery can also be assessed separately from the precious metal.
