Joining The Chain Gang…

Sometimes we run into the strangest of runs of coincidence and this last week was a prime example with good old fashioned pocket watch chains coming to the fore with no less than three lovely examples being purchased in so many days.

Deeply out of fashion and with few modern day uses these 19th century throwbacks are quite often beautifully made of 9ct gold with the occasional 18ct example popping up. Too short to be repurposed as a necklace, too long for a bracelet and no obvious other options they simply become worth their weight in gold. The example pictured pocketed it’s owner over a thousand pounds – not bad for something that was gathering dust in a drawer for a few generations!
