As I write this the price of gold has bounced passed the emotional golden glass ceiling of USD $4000.00 an ounce - an unprecedented, all time high. Frankly it seems a bit crazy as most of that gain has heaved itself into the equation in the last few months. Sustainable? – well who knows? You would think not, but then stranger things happen at sea and it may well be that this is the new normal. It’s driven by geo-political angst, ailing economies and stranger than fiction fiscal policies around the globe.

What does this mean to you the person on the street with some old jewellery, gold coins or some bullion bars tucked away for a rainy day? Is this the time to sell or the time to buy? Naturally the actual answer to this question is “who knows!” and if you don’t need the money we generally recommend people sit these peaks out for the longer term. However, if you fancy some cash in the bank vice some clutter in the draw then now is the time to sell.

We have never been busier as the result of these record prices. A small handful of scrap gold can be worth a few thousand pounds and with energy and just about every other household bill hitting the roof this winter it may well be that it is time to convert these items into cash. If you have come to the same conclusion then why not get in touch? We come to you and pay fair prices with the money in your bank before we walk away with the items. It’s a transparent, friendly, professional and convenient service – one that our customers comment on all the time; why not take a read (https://devonpreciousmetals.co.uk/reviews )
