A busy week at Devon Precious Metals as we drive the length and breadth of Devon and Cornwall buying gold and silver.
The first few days of the week saw us in Plymouth with a big emphasis on scrap gold items. Lots of broken chains, unfashionable chunky bracelets and old earrings. Once again a slack handful of items were worth a few thousand pounds to their owners who were more pleased to see the cash in the bank rather than have the items gathering dust in a drawer.
Tuesday was spent in the Exeter area. A gold bracelet in Exmouth netted the owner a neat thousand pound pay out followed by a big handful of silver coins purchased from a regular customer in Honiton.
Scrap silver can be likened to the arrival of buses at your desired stop… nothing for what seems like ages then a load arrives at once. Wednesday was no exception with us purchasing over 20kg of scrap silver in the Plymouth area alone – mostly UK coins (Pre 1947) and a big haul of cutlery and old tableware plus some unwanted silver jewellery.All soon to return in a solar panel on a roof near you or perhaps in your new all electric car!
Thursday; more silver in Ivybridge and Totnes (looks like a trend developing!) then a meeting with a client who wanted to have some gold tested. Not all gold is hallmarked especially items that originate from foreign fields. This lady had a number of items of jewellery that she believed to be gold but wasn’t sure. Luckily we have all the equipment to test all metals even if you are not looking to sell. We do charge a small fee for this service but it’s not overly expensive to learn the truth about such items.
Friday – time to draw a breath and get the admin done. The poor old Honda HRV is going; it’s clocked up a pretty impressive mileage over the last few years as it has explored every corner of our fair county so it’s time for it to retire gracefully to a less demanding owner. Incoming is a shiny new (Electric - probably sporting some recycled silver!) Audi Q4… watch this space as we make the switch to all electric!
