It's early October and you can feel the colder weather and the darker mornings / early evenings starting to draw in; it will soon be Christmas! Meanwhile the helter skelter life of a Devon based precious metal dealer continues with appointments all over Devon and Cornwall.
Strange as it may seem, weeks do develop themes. You can never predict what will peak at any time until; the diary starts to develop and you suddenly find yourself handling a lot of one thing. This week we have been (quite literally!) coining it in as we buy fistfuls of gold sovereigns and pre 1947 UK silver coins. From 1919 to 1946 they were made from 50% silver and prior to that from 925 silver. A quick trip to Totnes bagged 6kg of them leaving us with a weighty shopping bag of coins and the client with a healthy bank balance. The coins will soon be recycled and may well reappear in an electric car near you soon! Talking of which, the new all electric car is proving cheaper to run than the hybrid it replaced plus you get the added bonus of telling it to warm up your car before you even get into it... perfect for the winter ahead.
Later in the week it was a quick trip to Liskeard to buy a big load of sovereigns. The client had purchased them 20 years ago for less than £200.00 each and was rather pleased to see that his investment had done rather well. On the same day it was up to Bovey Tracey to buy even more sovereigns - I told you there was a theme! Whilst the silver goes to the smelters all our gold coins are retained for resale to local customers. So if you are in the market for a fistful of sovereigns (or even just one) please do get in touch as we will beat most online prices plus you get to see and touch the coin before you part with your hard earned cash.
Next week is already looking busy with lots of appointments to buy silver - roll on a new theme!
Do you have gold, silver or platinum to sell in South or West Devon or South East Cornwall? If so please feel free to get in touch.
